It’s mostly depressing. Another digital mode, that isn’t interoperable with any of the others. Lets all go back to AM.

This product actually conforms to the DMR Tier I standard; whereas, MOTOTRBO conforms to the DMR Tier II standard. (DMR Tier II adds spectral efficiency via two slot TDMA.)
Does ham radio really need spectral efficiency? If so, Yaesu will introduce C4FM (4-level FSK) TDMA (2 slots) transceivers into the Amateur market next.
FYI, there is also DMR Tier III: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H6OR6PfmDQI.
Jamie, that is great. But can the two modes talk to each other? That is the part that I think is depressing. Sure, there are ways to bridge modes together, but I am hoping for a digital mode that can evolve and grow.
I read this the other day: http://blog.taitradio.com/2013/09/17/analog-the-narrowband-answer-for-virginia-utilities-co-operative/. Rappahannock Electric Cooperative (REC) chose to narrowband with analog. It looks like we are creating a modern Tower of Babel: http://blog.richmondrf.com/are-we-creating-a-modern-tower-of-babel/
