Hey Folks,
Just wanted to fill you in on a new device I purchased through amazon. The Telebouncer. This device is placed on your incoming phone line and is designed to take care of all the bullsh*# phone calls you hate to receive. It takes care of telemarketers, political calls, surveys, and all other nuisance calls. Operation is easy…it intercepts the call before your phone rings, greets the party with a message-instructing them to push “1” to be connected (if they are a friend or have been given permission)…otherwise remove the number from their list…or leave a message. You need to have a separate answering machine plugged in if you want the nuisance calls to leave a message…otherwise, they will get a neverending ringing signal. If you have an answering machine integrated with the telephone, when callers push “1” to be connected, your phone will ring as normal, allowing you to answer or be picked up by the answering machine on your pre-selected # of rings.
This device works on the principle that most, if not all, telemarketers utilize a computer to call potential customers. The computer can recognize the difference between a live voice and a recorded voice…hence the typical time delay when you answer…the computer transfers you to a real sales person. If the computer passes a call with the telebouncer, the salesperson hears the message and should remove your number from their list. The sales person does not have dial capability…thus, unable to push 1 to allow the connection.
The cost for this device is around $70. After using it for about a month, I feel I should buy a dozen of them to make it through the rest of my life. Long nights on the ambulance can now be met with uninteruppted sleep when at home. It works like a charm. I feel it is worth three times the price. Prior to installation, the political calls were averging 3-4 a day!!! Not a single one since!!! I am sure that my blood pressure has decreased as well. BTW, it has some other customizable settings to tailor different screening options. Get one…you will be glad you did!
