Mailing Services Prices Effective Monday, May 11, 2009

QSLingOn May 11 the price for a 1-ounce First-Class Mail stamp will increase from 42¢ to 44¢. Prices for other mailing services — Standard Mail, Periodicals, Package Services (including Parcel Post), and Extra Services — will also change. The average increase by class of mail is at or below the rate of inflation as measured by the Consumer Price Index.

Got IRC's? Use them this year!

QSLingIf you keep a stack of IRC's on hand for your DX QSL's, be sure to use them before the end of 2009. The current coupons will become mere souvenirs on December 31. Presumably, a new coupon will hit your neighborhood post office before the current coupons expire.

Note from Jay: see an article on IRCs here at FieldComm. Price is now up to $2.10. ACG- thanks for the post.

The road to DXCC

QSLingI've been working intensely since upgrading to knock out my first 100 countries on the
amateur bands. Taking care of it in less than 6 months with the present solar conditions
shows that there still is plenty of DX on the air, if you have the time to hunt them down.
Here are a couple of other thoughts about the present state of the DX world.

International Reply Coupons

QSLingAre you sick of sending greenstamps for your direct QSLs? You know, some guys only QSL direct, and have specific requirements if you want a card back. IRCs have changed a bit over the years. Some guys want direct only with greenstamps. Some only direct with IRC. Some only via the buro. Some only e-QSL. While I can't cover all of those scenarios at present, here is the scoop on IRCs.
