Another Old Radio Find

General RadioCheck out this old receiver.

OK so I became a bit frustrated at Dayton seeing old sets like this one going for hundreds of dollars, and being sold. At a local non Ham Radio flea market today I did a bit of bargaining on this set and bought it dirt cheap. It's an Allied Radio A2515 general coverage receiver circa late 60's to early 70's. It needs a bit of cleaning up on the inside and out, but works quite well. I doubt if I'll be turning this thing around to make a profit on Ebay, not yet at least. Like all my other old radio collecting ventures, I'm just amazed at how simple things were in radio back then. This was a popular set amongst novice operators and beginners. It's not a top of the line receiver, but still a net little piece of gear. Not only that it's pretty when the dial lights up. :)

Nice radio Gary...looks in good shape despite its age.  I was in Hendersonville , NC over the weekend.  Poked around in several antique shops...found an old 6 meter tube rig...don't remember the make.  Also found a defibrillator from 1949.  Took a pic for Jay and the medics on my shift.  The manual was 3 pages.

So what is up with the 0.15 to 0.4 MHz scale on the radio?  Interesting part of the spectrum to monitor.  I bet that someone wanted to sell this radio because they couldn't receive anything other than the AM broadcast band on it.

What a great find....let us see more of what cool stuff you have.
