ARRL and Winlink

General RadioUnless you want to see Winlink take over the HF bands, we need to step up and make our voice heard. It appears as though the ARRL is trying to push the FCC into changing part 97.221 to eliminate the subbands set aside for Winlink. This will allow Winlink stations to ruin your QSO on PSK31, RTTY, CW, etc.

See http://mywebpages.comcast.net/hteller/comment.htm for more info and how to submit a comment to the FCC on this resolution. This website provides a quick overview of what is going on and how to send your comments to the FCC. It took me all of 30 seconds.

And to think I was seriously considering joining the ARRL...

Sooner or later you all will realize what a stuffed shirt, politically motivated, immovable organization the ARRL is. Once in awhile they may do something huge to win you over to becoming a member to show their "support" to the Amateur Operator, but it's just their political hold as they grab you by your RF Balls for another year's membership full of empty promises to fill their pockets.

The Ham bands are full of great things and diversified interests. It's unfortunate that if you want a National Organization to represent you, there's only one. 73 Magazine used to be their competition with a radical, more understandable, and friendlier approach to organization in Ham Radio. Wayne Green (if he's still alive) was a royal pain in the ass to everyone trying to take over, and I enjoyed his ways so much.

Hey if you don't like what the ARRL is doing for you, visit your friends at HamSuxy dot com at their booth in Dayton. Maybe that same fat slob that jumped in front of the news camera was elected president and will take a moment out of his time and truck driving job to help you with your Ham Radio issues.
